Dahlia Mahmoud, Assistant Professor at the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises at Zayed University with campuses in Abu Dhabi and Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. Mahmoud’s areas of influence are not by any means confined to one category, as the nature of her art and teaching are highly interdisciplinary and as such include design, culture, visual anthropology and fluid creative professional structures. Her initial academic posits in the United States proved fruitful in terms of experience and program planning, most notable, however is her work with the creative youth of the Gulf in her capacity as Graphic Design faculty at both the American University of Kuwait and Zayed University in Dubai. Through her teaching and mentorship, she has molded the minds of young minds into entrepreneurs and academics that continue exploring their heritage, cultures and identities through the creative process of graphic design and the arts at large.

After her previous academic post, Mahmoud took a break from the traditional Academic setting and started a Design Practice in Kuwait where her interaction continued with former students and design graduates handling corporate campaigns and design contracts for companies. With the fields varying from F & B , Hospitality, Healthcare, Fashion, Real Estate etc. as well as international clients like, Sony, Pepsi and Comfort. Some of the later projects include working on Creative Direction, marketing & sponsorships for a nationwide drive safe documentary and campaign as well as consultations in the media.  Her latest awards were Best Short Film, The American Islamic Congress and the Pan Arab Excellence Award. Awarded for the creative solutions and strategic planning for the noticeably profitable print to web move by Alanbaa Newspaper Kuwait.

Mahmoud received her BFA in Graphic Design from Minnesota State University, Mankato; as well as earning her MA and MFA In Digital Imaging, Videography & Photography from the Maryland Institute College of Arts.
