The exhibition seeks to address the binary concepts of good vs bad and black vs white, which are socially constructed. In our fast paced life-styles, the mundane of everyday life can’t be cherished because people tend to think in binary ways; always chasing the highs or getting lost in the lows. Unpredictability beyond dualities is what makes everyday so exciting. If our world could be color coded would it be a black and white one, or one filled with different shades of grey?
American film director, screenwriter and novelist, Samuel Fuller once said “Life is in color, but black and white is more realistic”. For Elliott Erwitt color photography is descriptive, while black and white is interpretive. Life can certainly be thought of and represented beyond the three primary colors.
The exhibition consists of paintings, installations, sculptures, and illustrations addressing these concepts, by the following emerging Zayed University artists: Alyazya Almansoori, Aryam Alriyami, Arwa Alhumairi, Joud (Maryam) Alkaabi, Fatima Almarar, Fatima Alqemzi, Fawaghi Alzaabi, Maryam Alzaabi, Reem Almubarak, Reem Jaber, Salmah Almansoori, Shamsa Alfalahi, Wadeema Almansoori and Zainab Alhashmi.
