The CACE Friday Lecture Series is a new CACE Research Committee initiative for faculty to share their current research with colleagues.

Dr Martin’s presentation discusses a museum in an eighteenth-century Sicilian palace commissioned by an aristocrat who corresponded with a Europe-wide network of scholars.

The museum was a stop on the Grand Tour for European intellectuals who travelled south of Naples. It housed Greek and Roman statues, pottery, and coins, as well as fossils, minerals, and lava from nearby Mount Etna. We hope this presentation will be interesting for colleagues engaged in architecture, interiors, the history of museums and collecting, and the creation of taxonomies and contexts for objects.

So please join us online on Friday 25 February as we prepare for the weekend.

If you need to have the right food for this lunchtime presentation, Dr Martin suggests Sicilian-style pasta combinations such as pasta with tomatoes and eggplant, or arancini, deep-fried Sicilian rice ball snacks!

We hope to see you at this first CACE Lecture Series #CACEreseach #ZUresearch
