Scholarship of Teaching and Learning
The Center for Educational Innovation (CEI) has been running a comprehensive Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) program at Zayed University since 2015. The SoTL program highlights the benefits of higher education faculty conducting systematic inquiry on the impact of their teaching on students learning outcomes. According to Dan Bernstein, those who participate in SoTL are assets to their institutions because they
"generate visible analyses of student learning taking place in their institutions, provide excellent models of practice for local colleagues, generate high-quality evidence for internal and external assessment, and offer accessible examples of quality education to prospective students (2013, p. 35)."It is with this in mind that the CEI offers provides ZU faculty with the opportunity to share, discuss and reflect on what really works in their classrooms.
