Innovative Teaching Through Classroom Research
January 09, 2018
Zayed University is hosting the third Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Conference (SoTL 2018) on January 9th. This year's theme, Innovative Teaching Through Classroom Research, highlights the benefits of faculty conducting an inquiry into their teaching in an effort to improve their teaching practices and their students' learning outcomes. All presentations are aimed at demonstrating empirical evidence of a teaching practice that facilitates learning and cultivates an environment of student success.
According to Dan Bernstein, those who participate in SoTL are “assets” to their institutions because they
“generate visible analyses of student learning taking place in their institutions, provide excellent models of practice for local colleagues, generate high-quality evidence for internal and external assessment, and offer accessible examples of quality education to prospective students” (2013, p. 35).
It is with this in mind that the CEI organizes the annual SoTL conference and provides ZU faculty and the local community of academics with the opportunity to share, discuss and reflect on their classroom practices.
