BOTIP Fall Schedule 2022
The Center for Educational Innovation is proud to bring you the new Blended and Online Teaching Innovation Program (BOTIP). There's both Quality Matters Courses and Zayed University Applied Workshops outlined in this Fall 2022 schedule. BOTIP is future-focused, to build knowledge and skills to design and develop blended and online courses from beginning to end. For more general information, click here. This means you'll learn to purposefully and intentionally design blended and online courses from the outset. See the QM and ZUAWpages for more information.
All of the QM courses and ZUAW are predominantly asynchronous online cohort-based learning. This means that you can complete the work flexibly anytime, anywhere. There are firm due dates to guide you to complete your work on time. This will encourage you to keep pace with all your colleagues while learning together.

The Role of Presence in Blended and Online Courses |
Isolated. Not feeling heard. Missing out. These are genuine student feelings within blended or online courses. Planning your presence in advance is essential to creating an ideal learning environment for students. You'll develop a plan for presence to suit your ZU blended or online course. |

Introduction to QM |
This facilitated workshop introduces participants to the QM Quality Assurance System. A brief overview of QM is provided, followed by an exploration into the question, Why QM? QM Rubrics and the types of course reviews are introduced. The workshop culminates in the development of a personal plan for continued engagement with Quality Matters. Recommended For New QM members (individual members or faculty/staff affiliated with a member institution) |

Alignment: The Foundation for Course Design |
The foundation and starting point for course design is alignment, which is defined as critical course elements work together to ensure that learners achieve the desired learning outcomes (Quality Matters). You'll develop understanding around its importance in the QM Rubric and intentionally design alignment into your blended or online course plan. |

Integrating Learning Design Patterns with Intentional Technology |
Teaching can be considered both an art and science. It's a design science in which principles and heuristics of practice inform and inspire the creation of teaching. The art is knowing how to create a powerful experience for all learners in our blended and online courses. You will explore six learning design patterns (Laurillard, 2012) and how you could design online learning experiences using intentional technology. |

Applying the QM Rubric |
QM's flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and its use in reviewing the design of online and blended courses is intended for a broad audience, including but not limited to faculty, instructional designers, administrators, and adjunct instructors. It is particularly helpful to those new to QM or those considering the adoption of a quality assurance process for online and blended learning. In addition to learning about the QM Rubric and the course review process, participants will learn to apply the concept of alignment and draft helpful recommendations for course improvement. Recommended For Those looking to understand the QM Rubric and course review process. |

Crystal Clear: Transparently Designed Assessments |
Transparency in assessment design reduces plagiarism, boosts student motivation and independence, improves student understanding and clarity, and makes grading easier. Have I got your attention? Purpose, task, and criteria is the framework that will help you design transparent assessments (and activities!). By the end of this workshop, you'll have transparently (re-)designed an online assessment. |
