Zayed University to launch the second annual UAE Quantitative Research Symposium

Zayed University is gearing up to launch the SECOND annual UAE Quantitative Research Symposium (QRS) that brings together UAE-based researchers with their international counterparts in Abu Dhabi campus  on Tuesday March 1st.

Organized by the College of Business at Zayed University, The annual QRS will be held under the them ‘Leading Edge High Quality Research in Business Sciences’ with great emphasis on quantitative research using robust data that can drive decision making.  

The one-day conference aims to promote world-class quantitative research and develop a research culture of excellence.   

Findings, that are presented and discussed in exceptional and high-quality research papers during the conference, will be incorporated into classroom instruction so that Zayed University students are aware of leading edge research in Business Sciences.

Florencio Lopez-de-Silanes, Professor of Finance and Economics at EDHEC Business School, who has been repeatedly distinguished for research achievements and won Harvard’s Wells Prize for the Best Dissertation in Economics, will give a keynote speech at the opening session of the QRS.

Professor Lopez-de-Silanes graduated from Harvard with a PhD in Economics and joined EDHEC Business School in 2007 as Professor of Finance. Specialized in international corporate finance and financial markets, legal reform, and privatization, he heads the Fund Governance Research Program at the EDHEC-Risk Institute.

Dr. Halil Guenduez, Assistant Professor of Logistics and Operations Management at the Department of Logistics, Tourism and Service Management at the German University of Technology (GUtech) in Oman, Dr. Federica Ielasi, Assistant Professor in Banking at the University of Florence in Italy, and Dr. Dionisis Philippas, Associate Professor at ESSCA School of Management in Paris are among special speakers invited to the QRS.

The one-day event will highlight and discuss several topics such as, energy intensity and environmental performance in the GCC countries, conflict and domestic bank lending, challenges of multimodal communication practices in Emirati bank customer services, the role of government demand in innovation, and factors affecting the success and financial resource acquisition perspective of Emirati women entrepreneurs with evidence from the UAE.

The QRS will also see the participation of several universities within the UAE such as, United Arab Emirates University (UAEU), New York University Abu Dhabi (NYU), American University of Sharjah (AUS), American University of Dubai (AUD), Sharjah University, Wollongong University in Dubai, and INSEAD and outside the UAE from France, Italy, Spain, Germany and Oman.
