Zayed University launches SETs day in Abu Dhabi and Dubai

A variety of programs and initaives aimed at optimizing ZU students’ experiences were offered during the second Student Engagement, Training and Service Learning (SETs) event held at Zayed University in both Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses earlier this week.
The SETS event, which aims to build students’ skills for their future career path and support their learning experience, saw the participation of external organizations, such as the Family Development Foundation (FDF), Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA), the First Gulf Bank, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Abu Dhabi Ports, Mashreq Bank, Jumeirah Group, and Ernst and Young.
As part of Absher initiative, the Students Career Office at Zayed University organized workshops in order to raise awareness on working in the private sector. Many Zayed University undergraduates, who are in their last year of study, attended workshops that highlighted the importance of having more Emiratis working in the private sector and the benefits they are entitled to.
Additionally, senior students at Zayed University underwent mock interviews with various companies within the UAE to test their interview skills, boost their confidence, prepare for behavioral-based interview questions, and have a clearer idea about what to expect at actual interviews, be prepared to deal with it.
A large number of male and female students attended sessions organized by TCA at Zayed University, which aimed at introducing them to Khebraty program- means My Experience in English.
Khebraty is initiated by TCA Abu Dhabi to increase the level of Emiratization in the tourism sector by collaborating with four and five start hotels in the capital. The program will enable students to work in tourism-related entities to get an insight on different components of tourism industry.
Academic Bridge Program (ABP) students also participated in the SETs day with their happiness project, which teaches proven habits to increase happiness and positivity levels among individuals and communities worldwide.
The one-day event also saw various hands-on workshops aiming to teach students the art of making jewelry, as part of Zayed University’s efforts to nurture the entrepreneurial spirit for young students.
The Pro Training Company, which came to offer professional training consultancy in modern etiquette and leadership, was part of the SETs day activities held in Abu Dhabi campus.
Patricia O’Sullivan, Managing Director at Pro Training- one of the leading training consultancy dedicated to harness the power of individual and team performance- gave a lecture to Zayed University students on protocol and etiquette to boost their confidence and improve their leadership skills.
The event on both campuses was well attended by male and female students, who appreciated the university’s efforts in providing great learning experiences through meeting and interacting with industry professionals.
