Fatma Abdulmuttaleb Abdulla, a student of the College of Arts & Creative Enterprises at Zayed University, recently won the first place at the 2nd Japanese Speech Contest, which was hosted by Khalifa University of Science, Technology, and Research in collaboration with the Embassy of Japan in the UAE.

The Japanese Speech Contest witnessed a large student participation from various high schools and universities from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. A total of 21 contestants were classified in two main categories, (Beginner and Intermediate) where they had to submit a text in Japanese, pertaining to a topic of their own choice, and then have it delivered in the form of a speech.

The judges based their evaluations on the pronunciation of the delivered speech to shortlist the final contestants and choose the winner. Fatma’s Japanese speech entitled “things I like about Japan” scored top ranking in the Intermediate level, and earned her a certificate fully written in Japanese.

Fatma is the President of the Japanese Club at Zayed University and is firmly committed to spreading the richness of the Japanese culture amongst ZU students and community.
