Zayed University hosts its first Arabic edition of TEDxZU

Zayed University held the 7th edition of TEDxZU on Dubai campus yesterday, with the support of Zayed University’s Marketing & Publications Department and the organization of student Maitha Hamdan. This edition was Zayed University’s first in Arabic Language bearing the theme "I am here", and was attended by over 200 students, faculty and staff.

The 7th edition of TEDxZU hosted speakers interested in sharing their knowledge and ideas across the Middle East and the World. Talks were mainly focused on the contributions of speakers to the development of the UAE community, each in his/ her respective field of interest.  

Amongst the speakers were: Ali AlSaloom, Founder of Maestro Enterprises, who shared a learning experience that forever changed his life and shaped his beliefs, Khawla Ahli, a Zayed University student, who beautifully described her love for words as a child before transporting the audience to an exquisite world of poetry, in a piece that urged attendees to commit to responsible driving.

Dr. Easa Bastaki, CEO of ICT funds, shed light on the value of innovation and leadership in regards to personal growth and community development.  

Mohammad Al Shamsi, CEO of RoboHiTec, showcased one of his most recent robots on stage, and walked the audience through the journey of his exceptional scientific creations and achievements.

 Ali Almahri, a Zayed University student, stressed on the importance of keeping one's options open and grabbing the right opportunities at the right time.  

Hala Kazim, Founder of "Journey Through Change", shared an inspiring story about self-discovery, which led not only to inner peace and but also to more accomplishments and long-term happiness.

Meera Al Siri, Co-Founder of Boum App, laid emphasis on the empowerment of women in the UAE, teamwork, and ambition, all of which culminate in great success and prosperity.

The event also comprised musical performances by Abdullah Al Awadi, Rashed Bin Jarn, and AlAnood, all Zayed University students, as well as an insightful TED Video by Matt Cutts entitled “ Try something new for 30 days”.
