Zayed University Students Participate in The Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship

February 2, 2012

Three Students from the College of Communication and Media Sciences participated in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship last week by offering assistance to Public Relation Official Representatives of the PGA European Tour, the organizers, Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority, and over 140 local and international journalists.

Myriam Al Dhaheri, Sarah Al Hosani and Razan Elzubair helped research stories for press releases, update social media pages, interview visitors and manage players’ press releases, including Robert Rock and Tiger Woods.

Myriam Al Dhaheri said: “I really liked attending such press conferences. In this particular one, we were given a lot of independence, which was great, as it gave us a big sense of responsibility and instilled in us the confidence we need to go forward and do more things.”

Sarah Al Hosani said: “I particularly enjoyed going into the Championship Village to interview visitors for social media updates and press releases.  It was my first time interviewing people in public but I felt confidant and liked interacting with people.”

Razan Elzubair said: “I have very supportive parents and my Professor David Bulla always encourages us to engage in projects that entail real PR work. This was an enjoyable experience."

All three students were very fulfilled with their experience as it has given them an insightful idea about what the media and communications is all about, all of which will prove very beneficial to their career aspirations.
