A PREPARATION COURSE FOR THE CMA CERTIFICATION EXAM

In order to be certified, a candidate must pass the 2 parts of the CMA examination. The exams can be taken in any order, but you must score at least a 50% on the multiple-choice section of the exam to be allowed to take the essay section. All topics in both parts will be tested up to Level “C” competence. 

The exam parts can be taken in any order. Candidates must register to take one exam part within the first 12 months of entering the program and must complete the program within three years. If you do not register for an exam part within the first 12 months or complete the program within three years, you will have to repay the entrance fee. If you do not successfully complete both parts within three years of entering the certification program, the passed part will expire. 

There are two examination bodies you need to register with to schedule your exam: 

1. 1.    Institute of Management Accountant (IMA )
2. 2.    Thomson Prometric 

In order to take the 2 parts of CMA exam, a candidate must follow these steps: 

A)   Be a member of the Institute of Management Accountants. 

B)   After becoming a member of the IMA, a candidate must complete the certification registration form to be eligible to register for an exam. For more information about the IMA membership and registration, go to www.imanet.org

C)   The IMA will process the exam registration and will send an exam authorization number along with instructions for scheduling the exam. Please read the instructions carefully, as these will explain what to do if an exam appointment needs to be rescheduled, what must be brought to the exam, etc.
