Graduate Student Reflections

I enrolled at Zayed University to continue my higher educational studies. I chose Zayed University as it is highly recognized in the region for academic excellence and a balanced theoretical and practical learning environment. Selecting the Master of Science in Information Technology (Cyber Security) program provided me with an understanding of the major current cyber security concerns and a glimpse into the security concerns of the future around the emerging technologies of artificial intelligence and block-chain technologies. The rigorous Master of Science in Information Technology (Cyber Security) curriculum was comprehensive, relevant and covered the fundamental skills required by managers to address the cyber security concerns within public and private sector organizations in the UAE. On a personal level, I gained the knowledge, skills, tools and confidence to enable me to address critical issues in the field of cyber security in my workplace. The flexible program delivery structure allowed me to balance the demands of work, study and home life. Faculty teaching in the Master of Science in Information Technology (Cyber Security) program were very supportive, showed genuine desire to help students to meet their individual educational needs and professional goals. With their strong individual mentoring and continuous encouragement, my group and I were able to publish a paper in a conference whose proceedings were published by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the world's largest technical professional organization for the advancement of technology. That experience was a once in a lifetime success story that I will cherish and be able to tell colleagues, family and friends for a long time. It made me feel so proud. Zayed University offers students great opportunities to learn beyond the classroom through participating and presenting at various local conferences and exhibitions. Examples of these are the Graduate Students Research Conference UAE (GSRC), International Exhibition of National Security and Resilience (INSR), Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) and Tawdheef. Some students who collaborated with faculty have even been able to present their papers at overseas conferences. The Master of Science in Information Technology (Cyber Security) program has been a fulfilling experience from the initial application to the program all the way to graduation and now into my career. Looking back, when I decided to join the Masters in Cyber Security, Dubai program, it was one of the best decisions I ever made. I highly recommend Zayed University and the Master of Science in Information Technology (Cyber Security) program to any person considering furthering their knowledge and developing their skills in the field of cyber security. |
