Introduction

Ladan Affi is a political scientist (Comparative Politics; Political Theory; Africa) who received her PhD from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has taught and researched at universities in the US, Djibouti, Qatar and the UAE.

Research and Professional Activities

Current Project

A member of a group of researchers working on Women and Peacebuilding in Africa project, which is funded by the Carnegie Corporation and the Foreign Ministry of Norway. The project includes Algeria, Northern Nigeria, Somalia, South Sudan and Sudan.

Research Interests

Gender, peacebuilding and politics; maritime piracy off the Horn of Africa; the role of diaspora in development, conflict and governance within fragile states.
