Dean’s Message: One College with Many Doors

On behalf of every member of our faculty, staff, and student population, I welcome you to the College of Communication and Media Sciences (CCMS). I cannot imagine a more exciting, challenging, and invigorating time in the fields of communication and media, nor a better place to study and practice communication than Zayed University’s CCMS. The CCMS is a professionally-oriented program accredited internationally by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications (ACEJMC) and the International Advertising Association (IAA) and nationally by the UAE Ministry of Education’s Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA).

Our faculty draw upon their own contemporary professional experiences and scholarly expertise in their respective fields to deliver a curriculum that propels our students confidently into the dynamic world of communication. Our primary goal is to prepare students for national and international careers in public relations, advertising, marketing, integrated strategic communication, tourism, media production, radio, television, multimedia, storytelling and cultural communication. Our students are highly competitive globally as they graduate with bilingual skills in English and Arabic writing. The CCMS Honor Societies on each campus celebrate our students’ academic achievements and provide them with opportunities to be active on the ZU campus, participate in CCMS events, and serve their communities.

Our graduates earn a Bachelor of Science degree in one of three concentrations: Integrated Strategic Communications, Media Production and Storytelling, or Tourism and Cultural Communications. We also offer a joint degree program, a Bachelor of Science degree in Multimedia Design (MMD) in partnership with the College of Arts and Creative Enterprises and the College of Technological Innovation. Our master’s program (MA in Communications) features concentrations in either Strategic Public Relations or Tourism and Cultural Communication. They culminate with research linked to a graduate student’s current workplace or career development goals. Our graduate courses focus on professional development so that our graduates can effectively perform strategic management and executive roles in both the public and private sectors.

Our diverse faculty represent more than 25 nationalities and are committed to research, creative activity, and professional practice. They embrace new technologies, innovation, and entrepreneurship. They are committed to student academic success and employment in the various communications and media industries. They oversee our students work in such international student competitions such as GlobeCom and the Roger Hatchuel Academy (part of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity). I invite you to join our faculty and students in such professional networking opportunities as Middle East Public Relations Association (MEPRA) and Zajel, a media storytelling organization of ZU students.

CCMS graduates work in both the government/semi-government and private sectors. CCMS fulfills its mission of excellence in professional education to serve the nation, the Gulf region, and the global community with the assistance of our National Advisory Council (NAC). Members of the NAC are from various sectors of communication industries and provide curricular and co-curricular support that is vital to the development of private and public institutions and enterprises while serving the interests of UAE National Agenda

We would love to have you join the CCMS family. Whether you enter our female or male campuses in Abu Dhabi or Dubai, CCMS is one college with many doors. Behind every door you will find amazing students, outstanding faculty/staff, and state-of-the-art facilities. This website has much more information about the CCMS, and if you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
