Vol 2 No 2, June 2005

Abstract:

This paper presents some information about reflection, through a review of concepts in the literature, and a small pilot study with teachers in the UAE.  The first part presents an in-depth investigation of the literature on reflection. The literature review considers the following aspects of reflection: the definition of reflection, the process of reflection, strategies in reflection, content of reflection, barriers to reflection, and advantages of reflection. The supplementary part of this paper presents an investigation into teachers’ and supervisors’ perceptions of the notion of reflection in teaching, based on interview data.
