The Learning Enhancement Centers (LEC) provide programs to encourage students’ independent learning and academic skill development. The LEC Supervisor manages the operation of two Learning Enhancement Centers, one in Abu Dhabi and the other in Dubai.
| The Responsibilities
Creating a dynamic program of LEC services that encourage interactive learning and student progress towards the achievement of the University’s learning outcomes regarding language, writing, math, information literacy and technology skills.
Overseeing the operation of the LEC and coordinating the LEC services offered on the Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses.
Hiring, training and supervising three full-time staff members and senior students in the peer tutoring program.
Teaching and delivering services to students.
Serving on the library administration team along with three other library supervisors and the Dean.
Coordinating the use of the facilities, including scheduling classes and special activities.
Actively participating in the information literacy program, including teaching, preparation of materials and promoting basic information literacy for students using the LEC.
Organizing the collection, providing access tools and maintaining inventory control over the collection and equipment to facilitate access by students and faculty.
Promoting awareness of the LEC’s services through regular contact with faculty and by developing promotional materials.
Providing guidance and supervision on the production of materials for use by students and faculty to support specific needs for independent learning.
Participating actively in strategic planning, library-wide projects and in the smooth operation of the library.
Serving as library liaison to a designated academic unit, developing the library collection and electronic resources for that subject area and teaching classes.
Serving on library and university committees.
Seeking professional development and research opportunities to maintain currency in the field and contribute to the profession.

| The Requirements
A master’s degree or Ph.D. in library science, or an appropriate field.
Demonstrated success in managing employees and in coordinating a program.
A minimum of three years’ library and teaching experience in a Western or Western-style university.
