Do I need to alter my vacation plans?
Probably not. Unless you are in a department directly involved in executing the move, you should continue with your normal vacation plans.

Where will my department be located?
Maps of the campus and room assignments have been given to department and unit heads, and a map with department locations is currently on display in the cafeteria. If you do not already know where you will be located, please ask your department or unit head.

Who will our neighbors be?
Dubai Men’s College, Silicon Oasis, and Al-Ghureir University are a few of our neighbors.

Where is the Al-Ruwayyah campus?
On the Al-Ain Highway, which can be reached from the Emirates Road. Location Map.

I don't drive. Will taxis know where to go?
Discussions have already been held with Dubai Transport. Many drivers are familiar with the area, as the neighboring campus of Dubai Men's College is a frequent destination. You may wish to carry a copy of the map and driving directions.

What facilities will be delayed?

The Library and Dining facilities will not be operational until later in the semester, most likely in September or October. Temporary dining facilities will be available, with pre-packaged sandwiches and drink machines. Current microwave ovens will be relocated to the new campus as well.

Science labs will not be operational until October 1 at the earliest.

A temporary warehouse will be located in Wing 6.

A 350-seat auditorium will be finished late in the 2006 fall semester, while a conference center capable of seating 500 will be finished sometime during the 2007-2008 academic year.

Also sometime in the 2007-2008 academic year, a small (one basketball court) gymnasium/fitness center will be completed.

Will we have A/C, power and water from the beginning?

Yes!

Will we have phone connectivity from the beginning?
Land-line telephones are dependent on the IT network, so if there is no network land phones will not be operational. The Al-Ruwayyah area is fully integrated into the mobile phone network, so connectivity via mobiles should not be a problem.

Will we be able to use printers and make photocopies?
Yes.  Standalone workstations and printers will be available in offices. Local Area Networks will be running within specific units. Photocopiers will be available.

Students will be able to print their work from certain rooms which will be designated as student workstation areas.

If “critical administrative positions” are housed temporarily in the CDC area of the new campus (Scenario 2) or in the Dubai Media City (Scenario 3), how are these positions determined? Who gets to go?

A group from the IT and Campus Development departments will be meeting with each department or unit head from now until early April to determine unit requirements, and will allocate space based on these assessments.
