The Middle East Economic Association (MEEA), in association with Zayed University, will hold its 6th International Conference on 14 - 16 March 2007 at Zayed University in Dubai, UAE.


About MEEA

The MEEA (http://meeaweb.org/) is a private, non-profit, non-political organization of international scholars interested in the study of the economies and economics of the Middle East.  The MEEA has a membership of approximately 1,000 and has headquarters in the United States. The Executive and Board of Directors comprise leading scholars from US, UK, European and Middle Eastern universities and research institutions. 

The objectives of MEEA are:

  • promotion of high standard scholarship,

  • facilitation of communication among scholars through meetings and publications, and

  • promotion of cooperation among persons and organizations committed to the objectives of MEEA


Conference Goals

The main goals of the conference were:

  • to bring together distinguished economists from all over the world

  • to exchange ideas, data, research findings and policy solutions to common problems on a number of interrelated issues such as Trade, Investment, Macroeconomic management, Labour, Growth, Stabilization policies, and the political economy of policy reforms of relevance to the analysis of the economies of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in general, and the GCC in particular

  • to provide an opportunity for established scholars from different intellectual viewpoints and countries to interact both with each other and with young researchers both inside and outside the region.
