Zayed University announces new partnership in offering the EMHCA

Zayed University announced an additional partnership between it's College of Arts and Sciences and the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in offering curriculum and faculty support for the delivery of Zayed University's Executive Masters in Health Care Administration.

Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim Vice President of Zayed University said: "The University launched the Executive Masters in Health Care Administration in 2004, which was offered in collaboration with the University of Houston-Clear Lake, and now, with our additional partnership with the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, students will benefit from the global perspectives and experiences offered to them by faculty from both prestigious international partner universities".

He added: "The Executive Masters in Health Care Administration aims to prepare experienced managers for senior leadership roles in health care organizations, and equips graduates with the tools that will enable them to critically examine and evaluate issues and trends, and effectively respond to the dynamic changes that the healthcare industry is experiencing both locally and internationally".

Dr. Al Jassim explained: "The EMHCA is delivered over a period of 24 months by selected faculty members from Zayed University and the two partner universities, while the 12 courses of the curriculum are designed to prepare graduates with a broad and in-depth Knowledge to become experts in the areas of ethical, legal and social issues in health care, managing in the health environment, human resource management, and learn the techniques of accounting for decision making, and quantitative methods and computing for managers, in addition to leadership and strategy in healthcare administration.

He added: "Graduates of the program will also be prepared in managerial epidemiology, health economics and financial management, and to compare between health care systems, in addition to developing their skills of quality improvement in healthcare, healthcare planning and marketing and healthcare information management". 

On his part Dr. Chet Jablonski, Dean of Graduate Studies and Assistant Provost Research said: "Admission to the Executive Masters in Health Care Administration is open to males and females of all nationalities, while an ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with a medical or business background, or individuals who are currently, or who plan to be, associated with the local health care sector in the UAE or the international health care industry. In addition to medical doctors who are currently managing health care units or aspiring to do so, business majors who are working in the health care sector, and government officials associated with ministries, departments, agencies, and authorities responsible for supervising health care systems, are all prime candidates to benefit greatly from this program".

He added: "The EMHCA admission criteria also include a four-year baccalaureate degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher from an accredited university.  In addition, applicants must have at least three years of mid to upper-level management experience and demonstrate sufficient English proficiency to manage a challenging, fast-paced program".
