ZU reviews memories related to the preparation of the national anthem of the UAE25 Nov 2009![]() National DayZayed University continued its celebrations of the thirty-eighth National Day in Dubai yesterday morning, as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Khalifa Al Maktoum and Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of University launched these celebrations which were organized by the University Student Council and Zayed University Clubs. The celebrations included many art exhibitions, cultural and heritage events, with the participation of students, faculty, administration and staff, along with a number of family members of the students. The celebrations began with a presentation on the memories of the preparation of the national anthem of the UAE by Dr. Aref Al-Sheikh, who is the Anthem writer, through a seminar organized by the Department of External Affairs in the University. Dr. Sulaiman Al Jassim, Vice President of Zayed University, expressed the feeling of pride world-wide, which is associated with the declaration of the United Arab Emirates by its founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God bless his soul- in collaboration with his brothers, Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates. Dr. Al Jassim expressed his feelings by saying, "As we celebrate this thirty-eighth anniversary we are proud to emphasize that the UAE people of different generations appreciate the value of the precious and fruitful determination and efforts of great men for the good of their Country, generations after generations. These fruitful are manifested through the comprehensive cultural renaissance taking place in UAE in all fields under the patronage and wise guidance of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan - may God protect him - and his brother, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and their brethren, Their Highnesses Rulers of the Emirates". He concluded by saying that Zayed University students are keen to organize outstanding celebrations during the National Day every year. In this regard, one of the new ideas for the National Day celebrations put forward by Zayed University this year was entitled "memories related to the preparation of the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates". It really helps students and the new generations to be more aware of the noble history of the Country, especially as Dr. Aref Al-Sheikh recited many memories that accompanied the initiation of the national anthem of the Union in a creative way to express the feelings of citizens and elements which are associated with the Federation of the Emirates. On her part, Mouza Al Ari - President of Zayed University students Council in Dubai - explained that this year's festivities, organized by the Council, in cooperation with the club's students, comprising 15 clubs, was varied with an attitude of cultural and historical heritage, reflecting the interest of students to participate in the preparation, organization and bringing forward new ideas .. Including the Dubai Police Orchestra. Furthermore, various numbers were provided covering diverse arts and displays for students' families, which hosted a number of parents and grandparents to strengthen communication ties among generations through dialogues with the past and present. On top of that, presentations of popular foods and crafts came under the heading "cracked conch" the mouthpiece of the profession as well as fishing competitions and heritage exhibition and sale of products, correctional and penal institutions and history to the issue of the three islands, Greater and Lesser Tunb and Abu Mousa. |
