Transfer to Zayed University

Students from another federal institution applying to transfer to Zayed University must have a valid U.A.E. National Identity Certificate, a valid U.A.E. passport and have successfully completed the UGRU at the United Arab Emirates University or the Foundations program at a Higher College of Technology and be in good academic standing as defined by the institution they are currently attending.

Students will only be accepted for transfer to Zayed University if they qualify to enter directly into the baccalaureate (degree) program. They must have earned a score of 61 iBT TOEFL or more or IELTS with Band 5 prior to transfer, and must take and pass an entrance English diagnostic examination. There must also be space available in their preferred academic program at Zayed University.

The student applying from another accredited institution must apply for special authorization to be admitted. The applicant must submit detailed course descriptions and transcripts in English for all academic work completed (from both secondary school and institute of higher education) to the Registrar's Office.

In evaluating applications to transfer to Zayed University, the University may consider special issues such as change in residence, marriage status, aggravated medical concerns and physical disability.

Transfer courses are normally accepted for credit at Zayed University only if there are equivalent courses consistent with program objectives in the core curriculum program or major at Zayed University. Only courses completed with a grade of "C" or higher will be considered for transfer of credit. Transfer credit is designated on the academic transcript with the grade of "TC". Transfer credits may count toward completion of degree requirements but are not used to calculate cumulative grade-point average at Zayed University.

Requirements of Transfer Students

A transfer student must satisfy all following requirements:

  • Take the Zayed University English diagnostic test upon enrollment
  • Complete the required core curriculum English and Arabic sequences (the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences may waive this requirement upon submission of evidence that the student has successfully completed a comparable level of English and Arabic instruction at another institution)
  • Satisfy General Education Learning outcomes and all Zayed University Learning Outcomes before graduation
  • Satisfy all Major Learning Outcomes before graduation
  • Satisfy the University residence requirement of a minimum of 60 credits and two years

In exceptional cases, with the concurrence of the college dean and the Provost, the University may waive core curriculum requirements and any major requirements except for residency.
A transfer student may voluntarily elect to enter the Academic Bridge Program to improve her proficiency in English.

Transfer of Credits for Summer Courses

You must be in good academic standing and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better to receive permission for summer study at another institution. The University is under no obligation to accept courses taken without its prior authorization.

There must be equivalent courses at Zayed University. Your summer host institution must submit an official transcript to the Registrar's Office. A minimum grade of "C" is necessary for credit to be granted.
