Graduate ProgramsThe Master of Arts (M.A.) in Communications (Tourism Specialization) and Graduate Certificate in Tourism Communication are designed in response to the huge growth of tourism in the region, and internationally. These programs will provide you with the understanding, knowledge and a valuable higher qualification to enable you to take advantage of the many, varied career prospects that tourism focused communications offer. Career opportunities include communications roles in tourism, hospitality and events enterprises, including employment in government departments and tourism development agencies, and any of the tourism industry's sectors, such as attractions, museums, transport, festivals, destinations and more. Tourism is a combination of all the activities, services and businesses that make up a tourist experience. It includes attractions, transportation, accommodation, events and festivals and other facilities provided for individuals or groups who travel away from home for reasons which include business, leisure, education, medical and sport. As well as having the power to promote economic and technological advancement, tourism also has great potential to encourage cultural and social communication and understanding. The World Tourism Organization (WTO) claims that tourism is currently the world's largest industry, and the world's largest creator of employment. Tourism has been identified as one of the most important sectors in the future of the United Arab Emirates. Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have set ambitious targets for the numbers of tourists they aim to attract in the next few years, and no other region on earth is investing so much into the development of projects that will support and enhance the tourist experience. The graduate programs are offered in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and admission is open to men and females of all nationalities. Inquiries and applications are now being accepted for the first cohort of students. For further information please contact: Dr. Sheena Westwood |
