John SeyboltProfessor BioJohn Seybolt joined Zayed University, with campuses in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, as Dean of the College of Business Sciences in December 2009. Prior to that he was Dean and Director and the Pratt Family Chair of Leadership at the Melbourne Business School from 2004-2009. He was previously Senior Vice President and Distinguished Professor of Management at Thunderbird School of Global Management from 1989-2004. From 1988 through 1998, he was Dean of the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah, where he was also a professor of management and adjunct professor of psychology from 1974 through 1998. His education is from Yale (BA, 1966), the University of Utah (MBA, 1971), and Cornell (PhD, 1975). His research, teaching, consulting and advising focus on issues of employee motivation, performance and retention; leadership skill assessment and development, organizational and job design, and effective team development. He has been active with EQUIS and efmd since the late 1990s, as chair and/or member of several peer review teams and is currently a member of the EQUIS Awarding Body. Additionally, since the last 1980s he has been active in the AACSB International, as chair and/or member of several committees, task forces and peer review teams. He is frequently asked to advise business schools in many parts of the world as they redefine their management education roles. His consulting and research activities over the years have included work with for-profit, governmental, and not-for-profit organizations in several countries and regions.
