Introduction

The Executive Master's in Business Administration (EMBA) is a general management program that prepares experienced managers from a variety of backgrounds and professions for senior leadership roles in their organizations.

The curriculum is firmly grounded in the functional areas of the business enterprise. Additional courses are designed to introduce managers to developments significantly impacting business including technological advances, globalization and the internet economy.

Executive Master's in Business Administration

Orientation Seminar

At the beginning of the program, students take an intensive one-day orientation. The orientation offers a number of workshops to introduce students to the program, during which students are introduced to Blackboard (virtual classroom software), case study and analysis, library resources, and the writing of reports and reference citations.

The curriculum consists of 12 six and one-half week courses for a total of 36 credits for the Executive Master's degree.

Graduate Certificate in Business Administration

The Graduate Certificate in Business Administration gives experienced managers access to selected graduate courses that will further enhance their ability to provide leadership in their organizations. The curriculum comprises the first 4 courses of the Executive Master's in Business Administration program for a total of 12 credits for the graduate certificate.

Course Delivery

Course Duration

The program is delivered in English over a period of 24 months at Zayed University located in Abu Dhabi and/or Dubai.

Course Delivery Format

The in-classroom instruction for each course is conducted every six and one-half weeks on Thursday, Friday and Saturday in full day sessions.

Additional off-site lectures are provided on CDs. Blackboard customized courseware, with e-mail and course management features, is used to deliver the offsite e-learning component of the curriculum. Portions of some courses involve videoconferencing. Students and faculty interact frequently to exchange e-mail, transfer files, submit papers, and access course materials in the form of PowerPoint slides during courses.

Admission

  • Admission is open to males and females of all nationalities.
  • Applicants must have earned a four-year baccalaureate degree with a GPA of 2.5 or higher from an accredited university.
  • IELTS score of 5.50 (with minimum sub scores no less than 5.0 in reading and writing) or TOEFL score of 550 (CBT 213 - IBT 79).*
  • In addition, applicants must have at least three years of mid- to upper-level management experience.
  • Applicants are required to have a basic knowledge of accounting, finance, economics and statistics prior to gaining entry into the main Master's degree program. Applicants may therefore be required to successfully complete appropriate pre-program courses at the discretion of the Admissions Committee. Students who have completed the equivalent courses at other institutions will be exempted from this requirement.
  • Program expectations are high and require participants to balance the demands of a career, family and a graduate academic program.

Graduation Requirement

Graduate students must maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 in course work taken in fulfillment of the requirements of a Master's degree.
