Health Care Masters students - Singapore Study Trip 2011

26 Apr 2011

16 students from the Executive Masters programme in Health Care Administration returned recently from a Study Visit to Singapore. The visit, led by Dr Chris Nuttman, Associate Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, was the culmination of two years of part-time study by the students and was designed to broaden global perspectives through visits to well-established health care environments overseas.

Students are all UAE health professionals themselves and met Singaporean health professionals in the public and private sectors, both management and clinicians, who are directly engaged in operations. They learned how health care in Singapore is developed, managed and financed and how high quality health care is sustained through hospitals, community clinics and preventive systems.

Singapore has reached the cutting-edge in diverse areas such as robotic surgery, stem cell treatment and community health promotion. A highlight of the week was a special reception,  organised for the group at the UAE Embassy in Singapore, where they were received by the UAE Ambassodor, H.E. Mohammed Al Qubaisi and his staff.
