Bio

I completed my Ph.D. at the University of Victoria, Canada, in 2005. Since then I have taught literature and literary theory at my alma mater, at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton and at Ruhr Universität Bochum. I joined the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at Zayed University in January 2010.

Teaching Areas

Modern Literature including Theatre, World Literature, Great Books, Popular Culture.

Research and Professional Activities

My research specialities are International Modernism, postmodernism, literary theory and Continental Philosophy. I am particularly interested in the intersection of literature and religion and have written a book about it: Iconic Sapces: The Dark Theology of Samuel Beckett’s Drama (U Notre Dame P, 2007). I am currently finishing an article on the HBO series True Blood and continue to work on my book on Modern and Byzantine Iconoclasm.
