Research and Professional Activities

Dr. Khondker’s research interests cover globalization theories and global modernity which he explores through studies on national development, role of science and technology in development, gender issues in science, migration, sociology of disasters and political sociology with focus on state and civil society relations.

Dr. Khondker’s articles on globalization, state, civil society, democracy, famine, internet, science and gender issues have appeared in journals such as Armed Forces and Society, Asian Journal of Social Science, The British Journal of Sociology, City, Current Sociology, Globalizations, International Migration, International Sociology, International Journal of Sociology and Social Policy, International Journal of Contemporary Sociology, International Journal of Mass Emergencies, South Asia, Bulletin of Science, Technology and Society, Dr. Khondker is on the editorial board of Globalizations (Routledge) and Journal of Classical Sociology (Sage).
