Ayyub Russell HamiltonAssociate Professor B.A. Political Science: comparative politics (southern Africa). BioAyyub Russell Hamilton is from New Haven, Connecticut. He has worked as an artist and arts educator in the US and the UAE. He received a BA in Political Science (Southern African Politics) from the University of Minnesota and an MFA in sculpture from the University of Washington. He attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, was a year long artist-in-resident at the Studio Museum In Harlem, NYC, and a summer resident at the Pratt Institute (Seattle with focus on glass blowing). He has exhibited widely throughout the US, and his work is in both public and private collections.

Research and Professional ActivitiesAyyub recently finished a public installation in Ras al Khaimah at the RAK Hospital (2010) called “al nasara: the uprising” and is currently working on a full scale proposal for implementing ‘art’ within the hospital as a means of healing and therapy for hospital patients and families. He is also working with the Emirates Cement Factory and Abu Dhabi Holding Corps on a public art project that will involve ZU students. |
