Bio


Nader Azab
is an associate professor at the department of art and design, college of arts and sciences, Zayed University, UAE.  He holds a Ph.D. from Portland State USA, with a major in environmental planning and a minor in environmental design and behavior. He has been practicing architecture and urban planning since 1984 through his private firm “Azab and Ayad … Architects & Planners” and teaching at Alexandria University, the Arab academy for Science and Technology and university of Bahrain.  Through his firm he won some architectural competitions and carried out some research grants for the Egyptian government.  In the 1990’s he was affiliated with the Institute of Portland Metropolitan studies at Portland State University (1994-1997), where he assisted with research and the preparation of the “Clearinghouse Abstracts” publication.  Dr. Azab has several publications in the fields of environmental policy and human behavior.  He has special interests in qualitative research methods and its application in urban planning and sustainability arenas.  Besides, he had conducted a number of workshops and short courses for professionals and government officials in Bahrain.
