What is the Academic Bridge Program?

The Academic Bridge Program is an English Language Program specially made for students new to tertiary study in the UAE. It helps them become fluent in English and develop the necessary academic skills to succeed in degree courses at Zayed University.

The Program also aims to develop students' confidence, improve their general knowledge and help them understand the world around them.

Program Structure

The program is divided into 7 levels of instruction. In each level, students study for twenty 50-minute periods each week over a 9 week course. When students joins the university, they are placed in a level based on the results of the CEPA test (both multiple choice and writing scores are counted). To complete the Academic Bridge Program a student may take only one term or may need up to two years. This depends on which level they start in.

Completing the Program

In order to exit the Academic Bridge Program and enter the Colloquy Program, students must satisfy all the course assessment requirements of level 8. This includes achieving a score of 5.0 on the IELTS or a 61 on the Internet Based TOEFL - * Note -Paper based TOEFL scores are not acceptable.

Teaching Faculty

All classes are taught by highly qualified and experienced male and female teachers who come from all over the world.

Assessment and Progress

The Academic Bridge Program carefully assesses students in two ways: continuous assessment and an end-of-course exam. The breakdown for each course is as follows:

Continuous Assessment - 60%

Students are permitted to repeat a course once if they do not satisfy the course assessment requirements.
