Learning and Teaching in Higher Education: Gulf Perspectives
This is a regular ZU online journal worth reviewing for recent publications relevant to our teaching and learning, with topics including collaborative student projects, faculty conceptions of teaching, overcoming language barriers, online teaching and the student perspective.
Books and resources on research topics:
Your library has a great variety of books and articles on the topic of "how to research". Check the library catalog for search terms such as research methods, qualitative research, quantitative research, literature review, writing dissertations, writing theses, writing research, grant proposals, statistical analysis, data analysis, statistical methods, SPSS etc.
To browse the shelves, start by looking at the call numbers H61-H62 (social sciences research), LB1028 (education research), LB2369 (writing your theses or dissertation), or HA29-HA30 (statistical methods).
Databases relevant to faculty and staff:
Many ZU databases have full-text options for retrieving journal articles. For a full listing of databases most relevant to faculty and staff, see the following database page. Ask any librarians for assistance in retrieving effectively from databases.

The Journal Quality List, 2006, is compiled and edited by Dr. Anne-Wil Harzing
http://www.harzing.com/
The Journal Quality List is a collation of journal rankings from a variety of sources, and is available in PDF format
by journal title, by subject area, and by ISSN.
JQL comprises academic journals in the following broad areas: Economics, Finance, Accounting, Management, and Marketing.
It is published primarily to assist academics to target papers at journals of an appropriate standard. We would be concerned if the list were used for staff evaluation purposes in a mechanistic way. The list was originally collated while the editor was associated with the Bradford University School of Management (1997-2001). Since then, the list has been updated and extended periodically to keep it current.
