The
library and learning resources collections, in Abu Dhabi and Dubai
, are arranged according to the Library of Congress Classification
Scheme (LCCS) with the exception of the Learning Enhancement Centre
which is arranged by skill area.
Items
from all collections can be found using the library
catalog.
General
Collection
General
collection items include books, videos, DVDs, audio cassettes,
and CD ROMS, and are all available for loan.
Emirates
Collection
The
Emirates Collection consists of resources relating to the United
Arab Emirates . One copy of each title in each library is not
for loan.
Reference
Collection
The
reference collection consists of materials supporting both quick
fact-finding and in-depth research such as dictionaries, encyclopedias,
directories, almanacs, atlases, bibliographies, indexes and abstracts.
Reference materials are not for loan.
Periodicals
Collection
The
periodicals collection consists of journals, magazines and newspapers.
Back issues of newspapers are held for one and a half months then
local interest articles are clipped and filed. Journal and magazine
loans are available to faculty only.
On-Line
Databases
Many
articles from journals, magazines, books, newspapers, picture
sources, and television and radio transcripts are available through
Zayed University subscriptions to on-line databases.
Important:
The Library's subscriptions to these databases are licensed for
the use of Zayed University faculty, staff and students only.
Reserve
Collection
The
reserve collection contains materials reserved by faculty for
specific courses. All reserved items are available for either
library use only, or for hourly or short term loans. (ask at the
Reference Desk for details)
Learning
Enhancement Center (LEC) Collection
The
LEC on each campus houses a collection of self-study materials
which provides support for students' coursework. The collection
consists of ESL books, kits, TOEFL, IELTS and other exam preparation
materials, graded readers, audio cassettes and CDs, CD ROMS, business
communications resource books, and math and English worksheets.
All
items are available for loan except the worksheets.
Areas
of the LEC can be booked by faculty for class visits.

The
Curriculum Resource Center (CRC) Collection
The
CRC collection on each campus is targeted mainly at Education
and Family Sciences courses. The collection includes Ministry
of Education textbooks, educational materials for use with K-12
students, teachers' guides and resources, picture books, kits
and toys.
The
CRC can be booked for study purposes.
