Research question |
If you do not include this information, you will lose marks!
Task:
For the Peer Review, you will create an annotated bibliography of THREE items that provide information answering your research question. (For your Final Project, you will include SIX items in your annotated bibliography)
- Your bibliography must follow either APA or MLA style.
- Each entry in the bibliography will be annotated, which means that you will write a
short summary of the source, and an evaluation of its quality (authority and bias).
The SIX items in your final project (annotated bibliography) will include the following:
- ONE book found in the Zayed University catalog (online or print)
- ONE encyclopedia article (online or print)
- ONE full-text article found using an online database
- ONE high quality Web site
- TWO further resources, from any of the above categories
For this peer review, you will choose THREE of the above, and you will complete the remaining three
on your own, for submission in your final project. If you manage to do more than 3 items for your peer review, this will help you later.
By doing the four assignments, you should have found six items relating to your research question
already. Take careful notes for your annotations, and remember that annotations should both describe and critically evaluate your items. Review the sample Final Project, and check that you have complete and accurate citations for all items.
Due Dates:
1. Peer Review (First draft for 3 or more items) Your teacher will set the date - bring to class. This part of the assignment is worth 10 points. If you miss the class you will not get the points.
2. Final Project (Final draft for all 6 items) Your teacher will set the due date for the final project. Post your final draft after any final changes made in your Peer Review. This part of the asisgnment is worth 40 points.
Purpose:
- To demonstrate that you have acquired basic Information Literacy skills
- To demonstrate your ability to develop a research question and good research strategy
- To demonstrate your ability to find, use, cite, briefly evaluate and describe six resources on a focused topic (sources will include ONE book, ONE encyclopedia article, ONE full-text article, ONE credible web site and TWO further sources from any of the other categories.)
