INVITATION TO LEADERSHIP CENTER PROGRAMS

The Center for Leadership at ZU would like to invite you to their new leadership events:

Leadership forum: this forum allows you to discuss ideas, topics and issues related to leadership. To access this forum please go to this site http://courses.zu.ac.ae on the front page of the Blackboard site.

Leadership Lecture Series: members from both campuses will be giving public lectures (during Common Hour, 12-1. If you are interested please email me at: ayesha.ebrahimahmed@zu.ac.ae and we will be emailing you near the lecture timing more details. The following is a list of the confirmed lectures:

  • PANELS AND SEMINARS AT UAE CAREERS FAIR
  • During Careers UAE 2007 there will be a number of seminars and panels on the first day of the fair, March 13 that will discuss different issues of HR and employment. Invitation cards to attend the fair are available at our offices so if you are interested please pass by to get an invitation. The following is a list of the panels:

    - Presentation by Minister of Labour Timing: 12.00-13.00 in Zabeel Hall.

    - Women Achievers’ Panel. The panel features 6 successful women working in different sectors of the economy and they will have an informal and candid discussion with the audience about career options in Dubai and how to follow and achieve their dreams. Timing: 12.00-13.00 in Area 2.

    - HR Competition Quiz. The goal of the quiz is to assess the capabilities of HR students from the Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, and the UAE University in order to identify and select those UAE Nationals who might be potential Human Resource & Personnel Managers and Supervisors. Timing: 13.30-14.30 in Zabeel Hall.

    - Inspiring UAE Entrepreneurs’ Panel. This panel features 2 well-known young entrepreneurs: Mohammed Harib, creator of Freej Cartoon & Ahmed bin Shabib, creator of Brownbag.com. They will talk about their business concepts, and the challenges and opportunities they faced in the process of realizing their dreams. Timing :13.30-14.30 in Area 2.

    - Damas-Tanmia Career Quiz 2007. The annual Career Quiz is back on popular demand! The goal of this quiz is to assess the knowledge of students from the Higher Colleges of Technology, Zayed University, and UAE University in issues related to Emiratization and the job market in the UAE. Timing: 14.30-15.30 in Zabeel Hall.

  • VOLUNTEER AT THE ALUMNAE BOARD
  • The DXB Alumnae Board is looking for volunteers to help in planning a number of events for graduates and students. The board is currently planning 2 events: the annual reunion and a professional development event for graduates.

  • SAN DIEGO STATE UNIVERSITY VISIT:
  • A representative from San Diego State University in USA will visit ZU campus on March 26 at 12:00 to speak to students and graduates about the different graduate studies programs they offer.

  • ZAWAYA MAGAZINE
  • Zawaya is the official ZU graduates magazine that will replace Achievers and will contain stories of students, graduates and faculty. It is distributed throughout the U.A.E. to leading members of the community, academic institutions, government ministries and corporations.

    You will soon get the first addition in your mail boxes. We would like to request your contribution to the magazine through sending us your story explaining what you are doing now and we will get back to whether we will publish your story.

  • REMINDERS
  • TOEFL reports of June 06 graduates: If you haven’t picked up yet your report yet, please pass by my office in Administration building- Career Services & Alumnae Relations Department office to get your report.

    Class of 2006 Year book: the graduation ceremony of the class of 2006 graduates will take place on April 26th in Abu Dhabi National Theatre. Zayed University is creating a yearbook for your graduation ceremony and some pages are specifically designated for quotes from 2006 graduates. Your words describing your feelings about ZU, graduation or your memories will be published in the book along with your name and college.
