Questions & Answers
What is the e-Entrepreneur Column?
Basically, a place where Gulf students can get their
opinions published. Specifically, the e-Entrepreneur
Column is an online forum for students’ ideas on
technology and e-business issues related to the Gulf
region.
Where can I read the articles?
At AME Info’s Web site – the largest
and most comprehensive business online resource in the
Middle East.
Who writes for it?
You do, if you’re a student at a Gulf university or
college, that is. You must have a faculty advisor review
it before you send it in, however.
What other requirements are there?
Just a few… View the “Submission
Requirements.”
What’s in it for me?
A number of things... See “Why write for the column.”
How do I submit?
It’s not hard at all. Just submit
online.
What sorts of things can I write about?
Anything that relates to e-business, technology or
innovation in the Gulf. The forum is your platform, so
you can write what you want. However, it is important
the articles are original, informative, well written,
articulate and most of all, interesting. Possible topics
can include, but are not limited to:
-
technological impact on society;
-
skill acquisition;
-
workforce nationalization;
-
technology and business best practices;
-
quality in products and services;
-
technological innovation in the marketplace;
-
Internet and mobile technologies;
-
ethics in business and technology;
-
e-learning and distance education;
-
e-business and e-commerce proliferation;
-
e-government;
-
Internet Arabization;
-
e-culture;
-
technology and globalization.
Did I see prizes mentioned somewhere? Yes. Students have a chance for their article to be
named as the “Article of the Month” on the site. Three
articles will be chosen as the best of the year. Authors
of the year’s top articles will be awarded, frankly,
pretty good prizes, such as laptops, mp3 players,
software, mobile phones and more. Above all that,
however, is the chance to be published while you are
still a student, which is something to feel proud about
and also looks spectacular on your CV.
If I submit an article, does that mean I will
automatically get published in the column? No. Articles are sent for review to selected members of
the editorial board, and may be published with
revisions. Alternately, students may be asked to
re-write sections of their articles for clarity or
consistency, or the Editorial Board may not recommend
the article for publication. However, within one month
of submission, you will be notified of acceptance.
Why do I have to submit my photo and bio? Isn’t this
supposed to be about the idea and the writing? Yes, good point, but the Web is a visual medium, and the
readers want to see who the author is. If you are
writing in a team, you can submit a group shot, and
women can submit pictures of themselves fully covered.
If your family will not let you put your picture on a
Web site, let us know.
Who’s on the Editorial Board?
View their profiles.
What will my article be evaluated on? Author’s knowledge of subject, technical merit, novelty
or editorial approach, writing
style/readability/language appropriateness, and fit with
theme of e-entrepreneurship.
Where, exactly, does the e-Entrepreneur Column come
from? The e-Column is a part of Zayed University’s
Institute
for Technological Innovation and hosted
by AMEinfo.
Parts of the Web site aren’t working properly. Who
